LALITHA VAIDYANATHAN
CONDUCTOR
SINGAPORE INDIAN ORCHESTRA AND CHOIR (SIOC)


Hailing from a family with a rich musical tradition, Lalitha is herself a violinist. She has been conductor of the Singapore Indian Orchestra and Choir (SIOC) since 1985, and is distinguished by her ability to blend North and South Indian music, evoking Singapore’s unique multi-ethnic character in SIOC’s performances. Lalitha also pioneered fusion music in Indian orchestration.

Recognition for Lalitha’s passion, expertise and dedication to the development of Indian music includes the Min-On Arts Award from Japan, PACT Artistic Excellence Award from the People’s Association and the Public Service Medal from the Government of Singapore. She is also the Principal of the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society Academy.
